Apigee edge/hybrid for Azure micro services or should we use Azure API gateway v2 ?

We are looking to build a scalable high performance microservices based architecture to serve millions of customers, with SaaS tools, On Prem DBs and 3rd party services.

Should we use Azure API Gateway v2 for application level gateway or leverage only ApigeeEdge / Hybrid for end -to-end as API manager & API gateway capabilities . Does it also support load balancing capabilities ?

Is APigeeEdge VPC is available for new customers ?
ApigeeEdge is provisioned on exception cases. Please work through our support channel to check if you can qualify.

  1. HTTP/2, gRPC, web-sockets
Websockets supported. gRPC support coming in H2. Could be earlier.
  2. Does it supports autoscaling
Yes, autoscaling is core capability of the platform
  3. support for Zone redundancy ? deployment which can span multiple Availability Zones across multiple clouds / on-prem
Clusters can be deployed across cloud for your Apigee deployment. Within a cluster in a cloud provider, components can be placed across zones.
  4. support for WAF
Apigee is not a WAF, but it can be operated with similar functions provided by WAF. Apigee has out of box capabilities few to list : SpikeArrest, Injection threats in Payload, IP whitelisting, client cert whitelisting, Logging on inbound requests etc.
  5. Does APigee Hybrid supports all the the features provided by ApigeeX ?
Yes X and Hybrid and similar products. The only difference is the placement of the runtime nodes.

Thanks.

Apigee being the leader in the API Management solutions, it can support your API Management and Gateway requirements. Irrespective of the locations of your source and target services Apigee can function as the gateway layer.

Apigee has multiple deployment models based on your choice of placing the runtime service components (hosts and executes the proxy artifacts).

Yes, Apigee do support load balancing capabilities across the all components of the platform.

Thanks
