Hello and welcome to our brand-new Community Sneak Peek series, in which we give you an early look at the new Community site that is going to have its Beta launch tentatively targeted for June 23rd, 2021. This series will give you an idea of what we’ve been working on and what to expect.
We hope that giving you something new to look forward to each week will make the wait for the beta launch easier. Please note that some of the designs and layouts may still change between now and the beta launch, as well as after the beta launch.
The theme of today’s sneak peek is ‘Navigation and UI’, because one of the first things that you’ll notice when loading the new Community is that it is more closely aligned to the Google Cloud brand look & feel. We have more clearly separated out Google Cloud (GCP) and Workspace into their own sub-communities.
Each sub-community has its own navigation, forums, blogs, and events sections. This will help to focus you on the right content you need to get your answers.

First, let’s start with the navigation bar at the very top of the homepage. The two main categories are now Google Cloud and Google Workspace with others soon to follow!

Leaderboards: Leaderboards are based on Top Liked and Top Solution Authors. This allows you to see which Community members are especially active and helpful. Who knows? Maybe, you’ll see your name here soon. The leaderboards change on a regular basis, so anyone gets the chance for recognition.
Profiles: User profiles also look different now and display the total number of posts that someone has created, the total number of solutions offered, Likes given, and Likes received. Google staff will be clearly distinguished with the Google logo layered over their image.
Notifications:The new colored and numbered bubble icons on your avatar, which can be found at the top right of the website are indicators that you have new notifications.
A colored number bubble shows you the amount of new notifications. Notifications can inform you of activity on one of your posts, such as a new Like, or a new private message. Yes, you now have the ability to privately message other Community members! While we always appreciate it when you share your knowledge with the whole Community, private messages are a great way to network and make new connections without having to share your personal email address. This is also a great way to contact the Community Manager team at Google with any questions. Below, you can see a screenshot of what the inbox looks like.
