Apigee Certification June-July 2020

Hi,

I am fascinated with the vision behind APIGEE and have been totally dedicated in developing my understanding towards it. As a check to my acquired knowledge, I took my first APIGEE developer certification course mid June and though I was sure of me doing the test well,I failed.

Considering that as an indication for more deeper preparation and understanding, I gave myself another month of totally dedicated time for preparations and attempted the certification again yesterday 8th, July. This time I am absolutely sure of doing the exam extremely well but to my surprise I failed again.

Its like I knew the answer to each and every question in the exam well, got a clear view of those tricky questions and ample time to finish the exam. All that which makes you 200% confident of job well done.

But the results were quite opposite. Now, I am muddled and not able to figure out where am I going wrong. I went thru almost all the questions which I remembered out of the exam and double checked with the documents, just to be sure if I am not totally mistaken about my view of doing the exam well. To my surprise, all those checks proves that I have done it well.

My preparations involved completing the training in 'Coursera', reading thru the APIGEE Doc, reading thru all the relevant community posts, 4min videos, practicing samples codes, ebooks, referring a lot of documents thru other channels, developing a sense of this product in a deeper way.

One thing which I noticed, probably its an insane thought but worth mentioning, my total scores were such, as if the number of questions answered by me as well as marked for review, which I diligently unmarked after review have not been taken into consideration in the total scoring. I mean like if x number of questions was marked for review, those were never considered in the total scoring, though all of those are answered. This is seen for both my first and second test's.

My question is whether there is a way to review my exam. I am totally perplexed and unhappy not because of my failed attempts but because of not knowing where I am going wrong.

I can now take the exam only after 2 months and I am worried whether I will again end up in a situation like this and will have no idea of the reasons.

I missed my recent test with just couple of points.

Not sure whether being open about my experience in this forum is the right thing to do, but frankly couldn't get my head around it and have no idea where to reach out other than the community.

Would appreciate any help in this regard. Thanks.

Thanks for posting here, I am planning to take it in few days and looks like it is better to schedule for a later date. I was not sure how complex the test is and looks like it is harder to pass the exam. @Praveen rajan

All the best @Ravi M

@Praveen Rajan,

I have taken the Apigee certification twice (once in 2015 with level1 & level2 and again in 2018 to renew) and i cleared it the first time on both occasions.

Firstly, the review questions not being marked is not something i have experienced. It could have been that some of your answers were partially correct and credit might not be given for partially correct answers. that's just a guess, I can't say it for sure.

From my experience, some of the questions though look straight forward, needs careful evaluation of the choices. It expects practical experience more than theoretical knowledge. It would help if you can try out more samples and POCs on your trial account.

There is less room for errors as the pass percentage is high and you are expected to be accurate if you have in depth knowledge on the tool.

Yes, I will have to work on the samples more. Thanks for your advice.

Hi.. I also gave exam on 4 July but i could not succeed and failed with very little margin . I gave again on 12 July and I could succeed with very good marks . I will advise you to thoroughly read all the apigee offical docs and do good handons practise.

Regarding your query on questions marked for review, I dont think so if that is the case because I have also marked so many questions for review buy i got marks above that.

Congrats Richa. Yes, will have to prepare more. If you don't mind to answer, do you have any work experience with APIGEE?

hi i gave an exam in 2018 Feb and passed but it was marginally. Moreover, it is not an easy exam.

I remember it tested on all small details such as open api tags etc. that may be generally sometimes overlooked in daily work pressures.

So take a stock again of questions that you remember could have gone wrong and work on those ones. I am sure you will succeed. All the best.

thanks,

Hi All,

I have passed my Apigee exam on 25th July and passed it. But I am surprised, except for a single email received on the same passing day, I do not receive my certificate or any similar documents. Is anyone has any idea how much usually Apigee (Google) takes to deliver the pass certificate?

Thanks

Appreciate your efforts, Apigee certification is tricky, i faced similar issue few months back where all options provided were same for couple of questions, I raised this question with certification support but there was no response.

Also annoying part with result is that there is no sections of correct or wrong answers just pass or fail. Certification result should provide feedback about sections answered correctly for evaluation.

Continuous preparation will help to clear the same.
