LDAP policy vs LDAP integration

Whats the difference between using LDAP policy and External LDAP integration.

My understanding is

LDAP policy is to be used in API proxies for authenticating the API consumer.

External LDAP integration is to authenticate the users logging into Apigee Edge.

Thanks

Great Question!
And yes, your understanding is correct.

External LDAP Integration - we use that term to talk about how users (API operators, API publishers) get authenticated to Apigee for administrative purposes.

The LDAP Policy is used at runtime in the API Proxy to authenticate users or systems against an external LDAP source. This policy is supported only within the OPDK (Customer managed) Apigee. Not sure about Apigee Hybrid!
