Drupal 8 support and migration path

Hi,

1)We understand that Drupal 8 is open source CMS projects that enable a self-hosted developer portal option for Apigee customers. Using Drupal 8, Customers/client are responsible for hosting and maintaining portals that leverage Drupal 8 Module.

We understand that Apigee modules for Drupal 8 is “Actively Maintained,” all bug reports,tasks, and feature requests are best submitted as issues in GitHub and addressed but, when it comes to production and critical engagements for Digital transformation , we need to have Enterprise version of Drupal 8 supported by Apigee, do we have such vision in place with Google ?

or

what will be option for client which insists on having Drupal 8 Enterprise level support on premise only ?

2) We don't have path for migration from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8

3) Whats Google plan for future to go without Drupal portal/ without portal ? or Do Google have vision to support Drupal 8 in future as Google did it for Drupal 7.

Please clarify.

@Abiram Radhakrishnan

thanks much for raising these questions. Please find the response below:

1) As the support document outlines, Google will provide support for critical product defects and security issues found in Apigee modules. However Google does not support Drupal 8 (the CMS project) itself and does not provide hosting services. For Drupal 8 specific support, we recommend working with an implementation partner. Please reach out to your Apigee account representative to learn more.

2) Because of the major differences between Drupal 7 and Drupal 8, such as the page rendering engine, recreating similar customizations may require a fair degree of custom work. If your Drupal 7-based developer portal had significant customizations, then we recommend that you work with an implementation partner.

3) Much like Drupal 8, Google did not provide support for Drupal 7 itself; rather it provided support for the integration with Apigee Edge. We continue to recommend Drupal-based portals to on-premises customers or anyone who needs full control over the developer portal experience beyond what the integrated portal allows
