Hi

I was ready to take apigee licensed version. So before taking it, the main purpose to me for taking the licensed version is to execute any java code in Apigee.

So, can anyone help me whether I can write any java code using a single java callout policy.

Any code means (I can able to hit the api's, catch the response manipulate it and post it. I can able to write different methods in the java code just like I do it in normal java code. )

I didn't understand completely when I seen the document referring Apigee java callout policy. So requesting here to find the answer.

Thanks in advance

whether I can write any java code using a single java callout policy. No, not "any code".

There are restrictions. (Details)

If you want a general-purpose Java hosting environment, I suggest that you consider Google App Engine. It's really flexible and cost effective too.

Conversely, Use a Java callout in Apigee Edge for doing message manipulation that isn't covered by the 35+ builtin policies.

Hi Sai,

You can take a look at this Apigee Lab to follow the process of creation a Java Callout Policy step-by-step with all the interim results reflected in the screenshots and output snippets.

As for what is possible, it depends on which environment you are using.

For On-premises Edge, there are no restrictions of what your Java callout can do.

For Edge Cloud, here is the list of restricted classes,

https://docs.apigee.com/api-platform/reference/java-permission-reference

which still leaves you a lot to work with.

You can search github for "java callout edge" to see real examples of many useful Java Callout projects.
