Setting up a Google tag to track new user registration

I would like to add a tracking tag to the pop-up screen for new user registration. This will help to track where new sign ups come from - which will help to determine where to allocate money for marketing campaigns. I want to set this up for the Sign-up form field to create New Account.

I am trying to find out how and where this code would be instated.
