Following the steps to change the sysadmin email address found in https://community.apigee.com/articles/6381/apigee-edge-private-cloud-changing-the-sysadmin-em.html
Once configured as per the article...Edge UI screen displays error "There was an error on the backend. Please try again. " when using any id including the new sysadmin email address.
Hi @Denis Piquette ... Thanks for asking. You have not mentioned which version of the product you are working on. If you are on 16.01 or higher, try the documented instructions. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. We are using version 4.17.01 in our private cloud.
As per the link you posted. I reset the System Admin Password and still receiving the same
There was an error on the backend. Please try again.
Any other suggestions?
