gzip compression and decompression while streaming responses

When streaming a large payload that's gzip compressed through Apigee, does the payload get buffered into MP memory when removing compression at the API level?

Yes, its unzipped, buffered and rezipped while sending back to the client. Do you particularly have usecase that you are looking for?
