How to handle error when end point server is down or sending error?
When target server is responding with 500 error (Internal server error) then any of the policy are not executing.How to handle fault rule policy at these condition
This is a simple case of Fault handling. Apigee treats 4xx &5xx as errors and on return from target, it enters fault rules. There are couple ways to handle it :
you can create a default fault rule and always enforce it, and have a Assign Message step with condition flow.error.status = "error" ...this should handle and allow you change the message
you can use http status codes and define them when building target URL and use it on return
