Categorizing APIs

What is the best way to categorize APIs in smart docs? Currently we are using tags in swagger spec to categorize APIs. Also tag name should match with the Apigee product name. I think this helps Developers to identify the right product for the API then subscribe to that when they create Developer App. Is this a good approach? Any better approach to accomplish this?

Yes, I think it's a great approach. You can actually build views in Drupal to display set of APIs associated with specific tags. Little bit of Drupal Expertise is good enough to display custom pages with tags & SmartDocs APIs associated with it.

Give it a try , Keep us posted if any.
