Apigee private edge cluster expansion & expert suggestion

Hi Team,

I am having two data centre setup of Apigee private edge cloud cluster where installed version is 4.15.07.01.

Setup details :

• Router - I have total 4 router two at each data centre.
• Message processor - I have 8 MP four at each data centre.
• Zookeeper & Cassandra - I have total 6 node three at each data centre (Running ZK & CS on same node each)
• Qpid - I have 4 qpid two at each data centre.(QIS & QD on same node)
• PostgreSQL - I have 2 (In that master in on DC1 & slave in DC2.)
• Openldap - I have 2 ldap one at each data centre.
• Management server & UI - I have 2 MS one at each data centre.
• Developer portal - I have 4 DP two at each data centre.
• MySQL - I have 2 one at each data centre.

Average hourly traffic is : 1,009,727.88 (From dashboard)

We are facing few issue like some time qpid queue get stuck,mp request rate goes high,PostgreSQL level issue, so we are planning to expand some component as below,

Plan A :

• Router : adding more 8 router four per data centre.
• Message processor - adding more 8 MP four per data centre.
• Qpid - adding more 8 qpid four per data centre.

Plan B :

• Router : adding more 4 router two per data centre.
• Message processor - adding more 8 MP four per data centre.
• Qpid - adding more 4 qpid two per data centre.

So I am not sure how much these expansion help me ? can you guide me for same or give me good solution which work for me.

I think a good answer is going to need more information about the errors you are facing. You mention Postgres, but I'm not quite sure what a level issue is. Adding qpids may not help. Are routers getting overloaded? Etc.

Suraj, I agree with @Carlos Eberhardt comments. We need more information in order to determine the problem you are facing with Qpid/Postgres. We will need to look at hardware specs, analytics raw data retention policy, analytics record size (custom analytics data collected), etc, in order to provide recommendations.

Adding Routers and MPs will not help. Based on the description, we need to perform capacity planning and tuning for analytics components in order to keep up with API traffic grow.

I recommend engaging Apigee Customer Success for more detail conversation regarding your needs.

Thanks for your help. We drop expansion plan we go with some another work around.
