Developer Portal Versions

Not applicable

My company is currently working with the Drupal 7.5.x developer portal.

I've come across some documentation in regards to upgrading the Drupal version through minor releases in the 7.x.x range, but nothing in regards to Drupal 8.x.x

Are there module versions that currently have been upgraded to Drupal 8.x.x, and is it possible to upgrade the Developer portal to use Drupal 8.x.x and still work in the same fashion?

We have started work on a very basic module for Drupal 8, but it is not at all functional yet.

We plan on supporting Drupal 8 in a very different way than we have supported Drupal 7. For Drupal 7, we essentially maintain our own Drupal distribution. We maintain full control over our custom source code and do not make our repositories open for others to propose patches, issue pull requests, etc. We also distribute many contrib modules as well as a custom theme.

For Drupal 8, we are planning on scaling things back dramatically. We plan on having a single core module, to be hosted on drupal.org, and with support to be provided by the Drupal community. The git repository for this module will be open for anyone to clone and propose patches. Any functionality outside of core requirements will need to be provided by other modules; we intend to expose as many hooks as possible to make this easy to do.

We don't foresee a useable D8 module for several more months yet.

Thank you for the prompt reply. That was very helpful information. We will continue to work with the current version and keep our eyes open for the Drupal8 version when it comes available.

Has this moved forward any more since October 2016? Any news/thoughts on Drupal 8?

May i know what is the version we will be using now Drupal 7 or 8?
