Google Meet Screen Share - Hide Participants

Will Google ever enable the option to minimize the participants during screen sharing?  This would allow the viewers to make use of their entire monitor to view the shared screen. As it is now, the screen share view only displays on a portion of the meet window. This makes it difficult to read any text that may be displayed, especially when a large monitor is not available or when viewing from a laptop.

You might want to post this to the Feature Ideas section here. Doing so will allow it to be upvoted by others and possibly considered as a future feature enhancement.

If you do not already have access, you need to request it first. See https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/custom/page/page-id/Workspace-Feature-Ideas-FAQ for how to do that.

Once you have access, go to https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/Feature-Ideas/gh-p/workspace-ideas-group . There, you can upvote and comment on any similar idea, or post a new idea.

If you are submitting a feature idea, be sure to explain the problem that you're trying to solve with the feature idea, not just the idea itself. For example, saying "when my users are trying to do 'A', they often get confused by the fact that the buttons to do 'X' and to do 'Y' look quite similar to each other, which leads to this unintended consequence" is far more likely to get fixed than a feature idea that just says "change the color of the button 'Y'".

Cheers,

Ian

@jmanderson have you looked at the option to change layout and looked at the "spotlight" option?  https://support.google.com/meet/answer/9292748?hl=en -KAM

Yes, I have looked at all options. I am a Google Admin for our company. If I use Spotlight or try any other options it only moves the screen share window from left to center but never changes the size of the screen. This has been a pain point for our users since day one and one of the reasons why we have not given up on our use of Zoom.

@jmanderson have you tried using pinch and zoom on a touchscreen? -KAM

Change your view to spotlight and actively use pinning (or unpinning).

Does nothing but move the view from left to center. Nothing increases the
size of the screen that others are sharing. This is not a troubleshooting
issue as much as an enhancement that Google will need to make. The current
setup is subpar
