Data residency of Google Vision

We have a data security concern of an Australian Healthcare client.

We are using Google Vision for OCR (Google Cloud) for the text extraction requirement.

Tje concern is concern regarding the data being stored (temporarily) in the google cloud for text extraction. The data should not be sent outside Australia.

I understand that google has provision to choose the location of the bucket as Australia from the attached screenshot.

Does this mean that the data would never travel( for processing or storage) outside Australia?

Sounds like you have a system where images are stored in a Cloud Storage bucket in Australia and you process them with Cloud Vision. You want to make sure that between the two services the data does not leave.  Cloud Storage would not move data in an Australian bucket out of Australia. But we can't prevent clients from downloading this data and moving it.  Cloud Vision OCR, however, is covered by specific terms of service (Section 17).  So it's a special client.

The main issue I see here is that Cloud Vision is not listed as available in Australia. There've been cases where that table was incomplete, so it's worth checking into that.  Perhaps this will be a good starting point unless someone else responds.
