New Feature Announcement: EIRP Upgrade

Google SAS is excited to introduce a new feature designed to streamline the grant authorization process while ensuring long-term performance optimization. To boost coverage and capacity, Google SAS will strive to maximize the EIRP for grants near protected entities.

The New Feature: EIRP Upgrade suggestions for customer grants at CPAS:

Google SAS is now suggesting alternate operating parameters for grants authorized at 6 dBm or lower than their max EIRP the previous day. This innovative addition aims to strike the perfect balance between immediate grant authorization and long-term device performance.

Immediate Authorization, Long-term Optimization

With the EIRP upgrade feature, CBSDs now have the flexibility to request grants that can be authorized immediately while getting access to higher power on the second day. This expedites the deployment process, providing a swift and efficient means to get devices transmitting from the first day.

Simultaneously, the feature optimizes the long-term performance of devices by suggesting a higher max EIRP for customer grants if more power is available. This ensures that CBSDs are able to request grants that can be immediately authorized to transmit while still getting access to the most powerful grants possible. This helps deliver robust and reliable connectivity in the long run.

What should CBSD Operators do?

CBSD operators are encouraged to reach out to their vendors to confirm support for the new EIRP upgrade feature. Interoperability tests for this feature are available to vendors to validate that CBSDs are using the higher EIRP.

What should CBSD Vendors do?

We strongly encourage CBSD vendors to take advantage of this feature by conducting thorough testing. The feature is already available in the test SAS, and test documentation for this feature is already available. No additional set-up is required, please feel free to test whenever you would like!

Any CBSD vendors experiencing issues testing this feature should contact sas-support@google.com. Any other questions should be directed to the community support forum.
