Setting up an Apigee Reverse Proxy

Hi Community Members,

I provisioned an org with the hostname datasandbox-350610-eval.apigee.net. I also created a reverse proxy with the base path as '/gettingstarted' with the target endpoint provided by the tutorial doc as https://mocktarget.apigee.net. My current environment is eval and the proxy api has a deployed status.

When I try to access it from the browser using the format https://datasandbox-350610-eval.apigee.net/gettingstarted I get a  'This site cannot be reached error' with error code DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN, basically saying it cannot locate my domain name.

This site can’t be reached

Check if there is a typo in datasandbox-350610-eval.apigee.net.

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
Can you please suggest what troubleshooting steps I can take to resolve this issue? Thank you.

Do you think it is something to do with my hostname as it works with the IP https://34.149.171.118.nip.io/gettingstarted

An Apigee X evaluation org?

yes. Maybe you are making an assumption that the hostname will simply be available? But Apigee X does not (at this time anyway) provide externally-accessible hostnames like xxxx.apigee.net , as Apigee Edge did. I suggest that you look through the documentation in order to understand how to allow your Apigee X API proxies to be accessible from external clients.  And see also step 8, specifically the section entitled "Call the proxy with external access".  You need to create your own DNS entry.  This is a change from Apigee Edge.

To remove your router's guide, use the Admin user to access it. What is the router's networking settings? What is the router's IP address? What is the router's DNS server settings? Add one or both of Google’s public DNS servers to your router’s settings. The router or ISP provides a backup DNS server, which is 8.8.4.4.
