SSO implementation

This may be a generic,basic query.But I would like to know two types of design implementations on SSO in APIGEE.

1)How to implement SSO in APIGEE,while APIGEE acting as SSO site.I am not sure how session is maintained for SSO.Please help to understand this SSO implementation in APIGEE better.

2)In this second scenario,SSO website is some thirdparty site.Users ,instead of hitting SSO website directly,they will hit APIGEE.APIGEE will contact SSO website.How session can be maintained in this case for SSO?

Is there any links which explains SSO implementation and session management in APIGEE which I can refer as a beginner?
