Requirements for linking URL to OpenAPI Spec.

Hello,
We are using the Apigee Runtime on Drupal and looking to link to or OpenAPI Specs. However, we are running into a lot of issues linking to our *.yaml files. The errors are non-descript/vague so troubleshooting is a bit painful. 

Is there a concise list of requirements for the file, URL and the hosting required... Everything seems to be trial and error and it is not great way to build operations around. 

Using ApigeeX with Apigee Runtime on Drupal 9.
