How to migrate API Products, Portals, and Apps from Apigee Edge to Apigee X

Is there a recommended way to migrate API Products, Developer Portal(s), and Client Apps (incl. API keys and secrets) from an Apigee Edge org to an Apigee X org in a production setup?

The goal is to have minimum impact on the API consumers and ideally do the migration from Edge to X transparently in the background...

Yes, there are ways to export the data including API product configuration, apps, keys and so on... and then import that data into APigee X.

But that's only part of the solution to providing a transparent migration.  There are other things you'll need to consider too - tokens, caches, and etc.  And for that, you need a more elaborate migration plan and strategy.  It's more information than can be covered in a simple text response like this.

We have teams of Apigee experts that have done this sort of thing and can talk you through what that looks like.  These are either Google employees or employees of Google services partners. I suggest that you connect with your Apigee account team to start the discussion. Benefit from the experience of the people who have done it in the past. It's not tricky, but you do want to be careful about a fully transparent migration, with no impact to the users and minimal impact to app developers (eg, just use a new developer portal).
