How we would identify our portal version, its old or updated one?

You can see an example here; http://dev-pixvy.devportal.apigee.com/buildInfo

+ If you have pantheon access (which for a production cloud hosted portal you can) you will be able to see all the latest code releases which you need to apply to your instance of dev portal
