Apigee LDAP supported version is across OS major versions

Hi All,

This is about Apigee Edge for Private CLoud. As per the Apigee supported software versions https://docs.apigee.com/release/supported-software, LDAP version supported is 2.4.44-20.el7 for RHEL 8.X Operating systems. el7 packages are compiled for RHEL7/Centos7 flavour of Operating systems and is not available in RHEL8 repositories.

Also RedHat doesn't support installing of packages that are built for other OS major version.
Additionally, the link above says the latest LDAP versions provided by OS are supported in RHEL7 and it is much higher than 2.4.44-20. Why is that a new OS needs much lower version of LDAP than a older version of OS?

Also as OS vendor doesn't support installing RPMs of other major version and hence is not provided by OS vendor in their repositories. How do we deal with this?

Finally, LDAP version 2.4.44-20.el7 has security vulnerability that are fixed in next version. What should be done here?

I appreciate any help on my above queries.

Regards,
Nanda Kumar
