Some Common Edge UI Password Reset Issues

If you're having trouble logging into the Edge Cloud UI (login.apigee.com), and you've checked that your email address is correct, and mail from apigee isn't getting spam-filtered, then please read on.

When "Reset Password" function is not sending a link

tl;dr: If the reset password emails aren't arriving, instead of resetting, try to create an account with that same email address.

Occasionally there is some confusion regarding Apigee global user accounts.

When an organization's administrator adds a user to the organization, the administrator is actually given no more information into the account itself. In fact, an organization administrator is free to add any email account as a user to an organization, regardless of whether or not an Apigee Edge Cloud account associated with that email address was ever created.

This is where the confusion comes in - after inviting a user to an Apigee organization, there still hasn't been any global account created. And thus, users are often told that an account has been created for them (when in actuality, their email address has only been invited into an organization), so the organization's user will get to the login page and attempt the password reset.

These resets will not be sent out because the user has not yet signed up. Upon signup, the user will be able to set a password and access the organizations they've been added/invited to.

When the password (or account activation) reset links are arriving, but they've expired

tl;dr: Check either your mail client or your organizations mail services for security/virus scanning or preview features that might be opening the reset/activation links in your incoming emails.

Many organizations have security features or similar that will actually browse, open, or scan the content of a web link within incoming emails. While this might be fantastic for security and other reasons, some of Apigee's reset and activations links are for one-time use. This means the link will be expired before you (who is presumably human) has a chance to click on it, properly fulfilling its purpose.

If this is happening, consult with your organization's administrator, or check your mail client to see if there's a feature that can be disabled locally, before raising a case with Apigee support.
