Community Etiquette

The Apigee Community is an open forum for anyone interested in Apigee products and services to ask questions, raise issues, and get help and feedback on anything related to Apigee and APIs. In short, we’re all here to help each other out and share the huge body of knowledge we’ve built as customers, partners, employees, and users of Apigee.

Please note, any of the ideas, statements, or opinions expressed by members of the Apigee Community do not necessarily represent the views of Apigee, and should not be treated as an official representation of the company.

As a member of the Apigee Community, we ask that you contribute by answering questions, as well as asking any questions you have. When an answer is helpful, vote it up and mark it as answered. When you have information relevant to a question, post it, even if the question has already been answered or you don’t have a complete answer. When everyone participates, the Community becomes a comprehensive resource for everyone who uses and builds Apigee.

Asking Questions

When asking questions, be as detailed as possible. Vague or overly general questions are difficult to answer. Provide as much context as possible. Code snippets, links to GitHub projects, and step-by-step details of how to recreate your issue are especially helpful.

Solved the problem on your own or found an answer outside the Community? Fantastic! Be sure to post it to your original question so that others can benefit.

Answering Questions

We’re all here to learn and find solutions. Be patient and tolerant of those who know less than you. The Apigee Community is the place for Apigee users and employees to interact, so if you need more details to answer a question, ask for it. If you think the person asking the question is on the wrong track or is taking the wrong approach to their problem, say so. Most importantly, keep answers concise, complete, and informative.

Community Moderation

A handful of Apigee employees actively moderate the Community, but active Community members may also have the privelege to perform moderation tasks. Moderators have the ability to edit Community posts, but generally only do so to make minor adjustments like formatting code or adding relevant tags.

General Guidelines

The following are a few general guidelines that Community members should follow.

Do:

  • Search the Community and the Apigee Product Documentation before asking a question to see if an answer is already available.
  • Vote up helpful answers, and mark posts as answered.
  • Ask questions about anything and everything related to Apigee.
  • Engage with the Community. Discuss, debate, ask questions, give answers. Sometimes the discussion around a question can yield much more knowledge than the answer itself.
  • Be respectful of your fellow Community members.

Don’t:

  • Don’t post your question more than once.
  • Don’t post any personal information, such as passwords, addresses, credit card numbers, etc.
  • Don’t engage in disrespectful, intolerant, abusive, or inflammatory behavior.
  • Don’t promote your company’s products or services.
  • Don’t post copyrighted material, such as photos or code, unless you have the right to do so.
  • Don’t post spam, including contests, solicitations, or advertisements.

Search for answers, ask questions you may have about APIs, and chime in to the conversations.

What would you like to see different to make this community a better place?
