Autodesk loves API Health!

2 2 206

API Health has been a very beneficial toolkit for Autodesk. We had the requirement to monitor our APIs from the development team. With the current design, we are able to build reusable templates to test our backend APIs with the powerful environmental variables and Javascript scripting. Since we needed to calculate input variables for multiple endpoints, it helped to be able to chain steps together to create a probe that simulates real-traffic.

For instance, it is possible to calculate variables for one call, get some variables from the response and use those as inputs into the next call. This creates the dynamic of being able to create very complex flows to simulate business requirements against your APIs.

Furthermore, today you have very robust monitoring options once the probes are created. It is possible to execute them from multi-regions and at different frequencies. Also, as our team wanted to be notified on failure, we had the ability to connect the error messages to Slack/HipChat and email responses.

We also really enjoy the fact that we can test things in real-time / validate new credentials. For instance, when we onboard new teams to new APIs, we use API Health to verify their application will be successful in integration.

The benefits we like the most are:

  • Reduced reliance on support and QA teams
  • Expedites resolving system issues
  • Identify errors for clients internally and externally
  • Validate functionality in real-time

At Autodesk, we love the API Health functionality and have been very happy so far. We look forward to seeing this product grow!
