Tuesday Tip #12: Collaboration for Frontline Workers

Greetings Workspace users! This week we’d like to highlight the ways frontline workers have used Workspace solutions for collaboration during the pandemic.

Mass Transit - the light rail system responsible for connecting Bahru, Malaysia to Singapore - now uses a range of Google Workspace applications: Calendar, Google Meet, Sites, Gmail, and Drive. "Managing and accessing files anywhere and anytime without worrying about storage limits is key to driving more initiatives and increasing productivity," says their IT Manager, Effendi Azaime.

"Advances in Drive in particular are winning enthusiastic internal support," he adds. "Most of our engineers work at remote sites, so being able to access common files from a single location is invaluable. Furthermore, they can update spreadsheets through Sheets and documents through Docs without having to deal with multiple iterations and versions."

O2 Care Services, who offer in-home services such as cleaning and childcare across France, were previously unable to allow employees to work on documents such as contracts and presentations at the same time. Staff had to send out emails to identify available meeting slots, and there was no way to share meeting information quickly and easily.

"In order to supply agencies with the masks, gowns, and gloves they needed, we created a Google Form so they could easily tell us what they required," says their CIO, Chadi Mraghni. "It was very difficult to buy masks, so we used Gmail, Google Meet, and Google Chat to share information and coordinate supplies." The management also used shared Sheets to keep track of supplies and other necessary provisions.

"Thankfully, as we already had Google Workspace in place, we could switch to distance working very easily when it became necessary," says Chadi. "Quite simply, without it, that would have been very difficult, or even impossible."

Which Workspace features have you used to improve collaboration during the pandemic? We’d love to hear from you!
