Adding a New OAuth Scope to a Verified App

Hello,

We currently have an application that is using a Google API via OAuth 2.0, and we are interested in adding an additional scope (for reading Google Analytics data for marketing analysis). This additional scope is in the Sensitive Scope category, which we understand requires verification.

We have already been verified for our first scope.

I was hoping to see if anyone in the Community knew what would happen to our current verification if we submit the request for the additional scope?

We of course do not plan to request the new, incremental scope without verification, but we also did not want to lose our verification for the current scope, as it is a core part of our sign-up for new users - and we do not want them to see the un-verified OAuth screen.

Thanks in advance for any insight and help!

@Dave-Kelly,

You have posted in the Community Feedback board, which is for specific Community related questions.  Can you please elaborate if you are needing assistance with Google Cloud Platform Console or Google Workspace?  This will assist us in making sure that we move your post to the appropriate area to ensure you get the response needed.

Hi Michelle, thank you for the response and clarification.

I am needing assistance with the Google Cloud Platform Console on this, specifically OAuth 2.0 scope management/consent screen.

Thank you!

Dave Kelly

@Michelle Hello, we also have the same question.
Is there any updates for this thread?

We have an approved app, with users that already authorized it for the approved scopes, but nee to again re-request approval for a new sensitive scope.
Question:
- Will that break the current app use for the users that already authorized the existing scopes?
- And will that make new users unable to authorize their Google accounts for our app scopes?

Hello Group,

It appears that you have questions about Oauth that need to be addressed by the Specialists. Specifically, you want to know what would happen if you submit the request for the additional scope. The best way to reach them and to move forward is to  use their publicly available email address, oauth-feedback@google.com,  in order to provide feedback and questions regarding your scenarios[1].
